Improve your skills for better job opportunities

At Action Inc., we’re dedicated to helping you get ahead through our Adult Basic Education program.

The program is open to adults 18 and older who want to improve their reading and writing skills and earn their high school equivalency. Instruction is designed to meet the needs of each learner and prepare them to take the high school equivalency test (otherwise known as the HiSET or GED). We also provide job readiness training, career guidance, and other resources that will help improve the quality of your life.

Whether you’re looking to boost your job opportunities or earn your high school equivalency, we welcome you to join us!

Our Adult Basic Education program is designed to meet the needs of our students wherever they are on the learning curve. We can accommodate numerous learning styles, and we will provide services to help you achieve your educational and career goals.

We offer three levels of adult education courses, along with supportive services to help our students succeed. Students are placed into the appropriate course level and work toward eventually taking the high school equivalency test (HiSET/GED).

Course levels:

■ Level 1: For participants with a learning level at or below 4th grade.

■ Level 2: For participants with a learning level between 4th and 8th grade.

■ Level 3: For participants working toward their HiSET/GED (grade level 9-12).

The Adult Basic Education program is offered through a partnership with North Shore Community College and Public Adult Education of MA/Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Quality education that gets results

Our Adult Basic Education program is rated among the top 5 percent of adult basic education programs across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts based on student performance. In evaluations, we see our adult learners make significant and measurable learning gains after participating in our program.

We’re working hard to give adult learners the tools they need to access better employment and change their lives.
