Improve your skills for better job opportunities

Good jobs can be hard to come by, especially if they require certain skills and training. We also know that asking for help can be difficult. At Action Inc., we’re dedicated to helping you get ahead through our Adult Basic Education program. We believe everyone deserves a living wage, and we provide the training and resources necessary to help people access better job opportunities and improve their quality of life.

Our Adult Basic Education program works with people age 18 and above to improve their reading and writing skills so they can achieve their High School Equivalency diploma. Instruction is designed to expand job readiness and employment opportunities. Offered through a partnership with North Shore Community College and Public Adult Education of MA/Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, our classes are designed to meet each adult learner’s individual needs. We also provide job readiness training and the resources to learn about different career and job opportunities.

We welcome anyone interested in expanding their employment opportunities or working toward their high school diploma.

Our Adult Basic Education program is designed to meet the needs of our students wherever they are on the learning curve. We can accommodate numerous learning styles, and we will provide services to help you achieve your educational and career goals.

We offer three levels of adult education courses, along with supportive services to help our students succeed. Students are placed into the appropriate course level and work toward eventually taking the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).

Course levels:

■ Level 1: For participants with a learning level at or below 4th grade.

■ Level 2: For participants with a learning level between 4th and 8th grade.

■ Level 3: For participants working toward taking the HiSET (grade level 9-12).

Quality education that gets results

Our Adult Basic Education program is rated among the top 5 percent of adult basic education programs across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts based on student performance. In evaluations, we see our adult learners make significant and measurable learning gains after participating in our program.

We’re working hard to give adult learners the tools they need to access better employment and change their lives.
