Housing

Our Housing programs help individuals and families access safe, stable, and affordable housing options.

Affordable Housing

Since buying our first multi-unit building in 2004, we have continued to develop our own affordable housing units on Cape Ann. We currently own sixty-seven units that provide individuals and families with affordable apartment homes. As the cost of living continues to rise, we remain committed to advocating for low-cost, safe housing for our community.

Harbor Village, located at 206 Main Street in downtown Gloucester, was completed in the summer of 2021 and offers thirty affordable housing units, as well as street-level retail space.

Emergency Shelter

Our Emergency Shelter offers a safe and comfortable place to stay if you are experiencing homelessness.

We know that finding a place to live is often just the first step. We will work with you to tackle issues that may have caused you to experience homelessness. We can also connect you to resources such as medical care, clothing, and behavioral health counseling. Meals are served daily and include breakfast, bagged lunches, and a full dinner in the evening.

The Shelter is open to guests who are 18 years or older. Space is limited and beds may not be available during certain times. Please call us at 978-282-1000 with questions.

Supportive Housing & Homelessness Prevention

Our Housing First program provides housing and hope to people experiencing chronic homelessness. Through Housing First, adults with disabilities and long histories of homelessness receive permanent housing and supportive services provided by a Case Manager. Housing First Case Managers work closely with participants to provide guidance, share resources, coordinate services, and more.

Interested in making a real impact? We are looking for landlords in the North Shore area with available units for lease. To learn more, contact our Housing First Program Manager at sdouglas@actioninc.org.
