2010 Annual Meeting &
Dinner: Serving Cape Ann & Beyond for 45 Years
June
17, 2010 - Our 2010
Annual Meeting and Dinner at Cruiseport Gloucester was a
chance to honor ACTION’s 45-year history of providing
services and programs designed to help low-income
families become more financially secure and
self-sufficient. It was also an opportunity to recognize
members of our community who have gone above and beyond
to assist their disadvantaged neighbors.
Executive
Director Tim Riley presented ACTION’s annual Public
Service Award to the Rockport Community Preservation Act
Committee, led by Mary Francis, for their generous
support of the Rockport Tenant Based Rental Assistance
Program.
Maud Warren
of the Cape Ann Interfaith Commission received the
Community Service Award, recognizing her work with the
Commission’s Harvest Meals and holiday gift-giving
programs, as well as her role in managing rental
assistance funds for those in need.
Continuing an
ACTION Annual Meeting tradition, staff members were
recognized for their years of service, ranging from five
years with the organization to an impressive 35 years -
a landmark achieved by both Tim Riley and ACTION
HomeCare Director GerryAnne Brown.
The evening featured testimonials
by clients ACTION has assisted through the Job Training
and Education, Benefits and Support Services, and Energy
Services departments, as well as a staff testimonial by
longtime HomeCare Worker Judy Carey.
The final honor of the evening, the Lyndon
Baines Johnson War on Poverty Award, was presented to
long-time ACTION employee and current Vice President for
Energy Services Elliott Jacobson, for his 33 years of
dedication and expertise in the affordable energy arena.
